Default Itchy Scalp

I recall reading somewhere on here that people sometimes get the itchy or tingly scalp when they are experiencing hair loss... I've recently started getting that itchiness, especially along the part line and the top of the head where the hair loss is worse! I don't think its dandruf since I haven't noticed any flakes or anything. And ideas on how to get the itchiness to go away? It's almost as frustrating as the hair loss itself some days! Thanks!

Maz

I noticed the tingling and itchiness when my hair started falling out this past summer. I think it's because of the excess androgens/testosterone in the system.

I'm currently taking bcp's, saw palmetto, evening primrose oil, 3 tablespoons ground flax seed daily, 1 tablespoon flax oil daily, zinc, B-6 and spiro (100 mg day) to lower the testosterone and/or promote new hair growth.

I have found that massaging flax seed oil into my scalp helps to decrease the feeling but it doesn't last long.

Hi,

When my hair was at it's thinnest, I also felt like my scalp was always tingling. I remember thinking at first it was a good sign--maybe something was growing. Nope.

I started the lowcarbing and supplements and within a few days, the tingling feeling stopped. My hair looks thicker, but alas, no little new hair regrowing.

But I am curious if there are any signs to new hair regrowing?...for example my scalp was always dry, but recently has gotten more oily so that I had to switch shampoos. Also sometimes I think my scalp looks pinker than before, but that could be a lighting effect.
