Default Iud??

I don't really have a need for bc now but I'm wondering if anyone had luck with IUD helping out at all. I mean the one with hormone too(although its progestrone and I could see a chance of spotting).

Does anyone now how it is with flow? On my heavy days I have (sorry to be graphic) clots and its annoying.

Hmm. I am not fond of the idea of the Mirena (which is synthetic progestin, not real progesterone)...I don't like progestin by itself since IMO depo caused my PCOS. Progestin alone also can cause irregular or total lack of AF. It does NOT always stop ovulation (only 40% of time). And it has been known to worsen IR. Bleah.

There's the copper-T IUD w/o hormones, which I had for 8 years. Loved it. Flow was heavier, but not really more painful. You get yeast, BV, and everything else more often though--but that's true with any IUD I think.

There is also the Progestasert IUD, with real progesterone. It doesn't worsen IR but you have to replace it every year. I love real progesterone, I have taken Prometrium for a while and it's very calming. No weight gain, no acne, no craziness like the synthetic crap.

Just my two cents. I don't care much for synthetic progestins, much less by themselves. Why not the copper IUD BTW?

I've read that IUD is not good for PCOS women as...we need to bleed 4 times a year to clean out our uteris.

Well, that's why I suggested the copper, it has no hormones and doesn't affect your cycles.
