Thumbs down IUI today....sooo bummed out!

I went in for myIUI today and it didn't go well..but this time it wasn't my fault. Up until now DH's sperm count has always been good. Last cycle (August) the doc even said it was "Very good." I got pg off the last IUI cycle, but it ended in M/C. However, this time the doc said the numbers were poor, motility was horrible, and there were several abnormal sperm. He didn't sound very hopeful about conceiving this time around. We're dumbfounded..we honestly can't figure out what went so horribly wrong since August. I have ordered some Fertilaid for men (a fertility vitamin), and we're going to try different things to help bring up the counts for next time, but we're still really disappointed about this cycle. It feels like we just wasted a ton of money.. Any reassurance/suggestions/support would be more then appreciated..

On the cycle that my sister-in-law and my brother conceived, the nurse made some negative comments about both the count and motility. It isn't over yet...

As they say, you really only need 1 good sperm in the right place at the right time. GL.
I believe vitamins can take up to 3 months to show improvement.

You may want to have your husband get checked for a prostate infection. I have read that it can affect sperm counts & quality, and can be cleared up very easily by antibiotic.

Thanks for the replies ladies..The RE mentioned that an infection could possibly cause this as well..However, I highly doubt it. Wouldn't he have to have some kind of symptoms? When I looked up the symptoms I found that he could possibly have fever, painful urination, painful ejaculation..and he has absolutely none of that. He hasn't been sick in a long time, not even a cold.
Hmmm....actually, I just thought of something..He works for a hospital and they have mandatory flu shots. A couple of weeks ago he had the seasonal and H1N1 flu shots done..could this possibly affect it?

Normally, I don't post, but I read your post and had to respond. My husband and I had the same thing happen on our first IUI. On his only previous semen analysis, his numbers were perfect, above average. I'm still not sure why our doc suggested insemination with his numbers, but we've since changed physicians.

Anyway, to the point. She had us scared to death. Something wasn't right and we went to another clinic. Turns out, my husband had a simple infection. He had to take 7 days of antibiotics, after which he took another semen analysis and his count and morphology was back to normal. He went from 5% morphology to 20% in just a couple of weeks.

I'm not a doctor, but from our experience, it's entirely possible that he just needs to do another analysis to determine whether he's got an infection and what medication will knock it out.

Don't panic, I bet it's nothing

Sorry, forgot to add something. My husband had absolutely no symptoms. None...No painful urination etc...nothing.

It's very common from what they told me.

We have a different story, same problem longer term. Finally after going to the urologist numerous times he's been treated for high white blood cell count (those fight infection) with antibiotics and has improved since.

Hmm..thanks for the tips ladies. The Dr wants DH to go in for another SA on Dec 4th..if my Beta on Dec 2 comes back neg. Please just keep your fingers crossed for us!! We're going to BD again tonight and tomorrow just to try to seal the deal and try to get as many little guys as we can to meet those eggos! If things still aren't good next time, we'll wait a cycle until we figure out what's going on.

Also wanted to mention and forgot, my DH has a "clumping issue" that is resolved by ejaculating directly into a "media" that keeps it from clumping and that was also reducing his #s...just a thought!
