Default Iv never had health insurance before and need to understand the gobl-D-gook

So I am 26 YO, I'm in decent health (besides being heavy), I have been diagnosed with PCOS a year ago and I need insurance. What do I look for, what is a "PPO" "HMO" ect. I know they say read the fine print but... what does the fine print MEAN? Any one know of a provider that is local? (Santa Maria, California)
