Default IVF - reasons it would not work?

Im considering doing IVF starting in January and it seems like the success rate is pretty high, but there are still some for whom it doesn't work.

Does anybody know why it would not work in some women? Are there signs or predictors as to who it would or would not work for?

Thanks

If you had the answer to this, you'd be richer than Bill Gates.

No one knows.

Sometimes it's obvious that either the women isn't making good eggs - either she's not making many or any, or they won't fertilize. Then of course if they don't fertilize or fertiliize poorly, it could be her eggs or it could be the sperm. Even when eggs and sperm look OK, they may not be.

But sometimes everything looks great but the embryos just won't implant once transferred. All tests say things are fine so it just becomes explained as being "unexplained."

It *is* your best shot as it gives you the best chance to make everything perfect and see what's happening - but it's still not 100%.

Ask your RE what he/she thinks are the chances for YOU. For example, how old are you? Women who are older might not do well with their own eggs. Have you taken other fertility meds already? How did you respond? Do you have any male factor issues? These could all play a part, but yes, it is often just the luck of the draw, just like if you are TTC naturally. You don't get PG every time you do it.

I am starting the IVF process in Jan. (actually late Dec.)... I would love a cycle buddy. I agree with the other ladies. It is your best bet, but its still not 100%.
