I'm not Jamaican, but there is a social group for Caribbean cysters I believe. Also feel free to come on down to the Cystah's with Soul social group; there's a variety of sisters from diverse backgrounds there with great conversation, advice and humor!

I'm jamaican seeking advice on how to cope with PCOS
Jus a do a likkle intro- I was diagnosed with PCOS not too long ago. B4 dat i was told i had endometriosis and then PID so my new doc says he feels it PCOS so i'm now on new med( tired of all the tablets) and hoping for the best.
Hope u'll reply
DMage - Welcome to the board. I am living in St Lucia but spent many years in Jamaica. Do you live in Jamaica now? Has the dr run any bloodwork and u/s for confirmation of PCOS? What is the med the dr put you on? There is no miracle pill to "cure" PCOS but depending on your symptoms, you can take meds to mask those symptoms.

Thanx SandV
I do live in Jamaica. I've had the whole works-blood tests and ultrasound and my new doc is convinced its PCOS and has put me on Progyluton. I'm experiencing mood swings and crying spells. I don't know if its the meds or just everyday happenings. I'm tired of being sick.
DMage - Sorry you are going through the mood swings. Many cysters do suffer from them due to hormone imbalances. However, if you did not have them before I would think its from the meds. Below is an article that discusses progyluton and PCOS. I hope you find it helpful.
There is a social group Caribbean Cysters you can join. I have been dx for years and have found modifying what I eat seems to help with my symptoms as well. Please feel free to PM, IM or email me if you need anything.
I stayed in Montego Bay for on/off over a 3 year period.

Thanx for that
My doc says mood swings are just a woman thing!
I'm thinking of having a lap done during summer when things are less hectic to really get to the root of the problem. I would have done it before but a doc advised me that lap would cause scar tissue which would encourage the growth of endo and another scared me. She told me that they could accidentally tear my intestines. Not what I wanted to hear!
What are you trying to accomplish? Are you just trying to have regular cycles and lessen symptoms or are you TTC? I think that should also be part of your decision. I never had one, but have learned a lot from reading on this board as well as other research. Has a dr told you to lose weight or change your nutritional habits?

Not trying to conceive yet, I just want to be comfortable -sitting standing or other things ppl take for granted r difficult for me. I am almost underweigt so weight loss is not an issue however I do have high cholesterol so I'm taking extra care not to develop diabetes.
