I just moved to Jacksonville, FL and am looking for a good GYN doctor. I live in south Jax so that area would be better for me. I did find The Center for PCOS in Jacksonville and have an appt there in July. However they do not do paps and stuff. So I need someone for that.
I might have found someone. I will see how good they are June 3! Their website talked about infertility and the main Dr sounds great. They also do Laser Hair removal in one of their offices. We shall see. Its Dr Sekine in the Mandarin area.
Hi Crazy,
I live in Jacksonville, FL too. I have an appointment with Dr. Winslow at the PCOS clinic in mid-July. I have a friend that went there in April and said it was great. I do have an ob/gyn. I had a baby girl in January they were great for ob but I want to find a gyn with PCOS experience.

I go in Mid July too! However they are not a GYN. I asked and they do not do paps. Literally just treat the medical condition PCOS.
Hi Kathy,
Yes, that is what they told me too...no paps. I figured I would ask Dr. Winslow who he suggests. I am very excited about this appointment. Are you on any PCOS medicine?
Mary
Mary,
I never thought of asking them for a referral! I ended up finding a GYN near me but am pleased enough for now.
I am not on anything for PECOS as of now. I was on Met a few years ago for a short time but I just stopped taking it. I am so excited to have correct tests run and some help finally. My primary recently (Monday) took blood for IR and Cholesterol but I have not heard back with results yet. Although I know my cholesterol is high.
Anyhow July can't come soon enough. I am pretty excited about taking control finally. I read they even have a nutritional counselor there!
I think my date is July 23rd. I will have to check my calendar. Anyways I found a great primary care doctor. I went to her 2 weeks ago and she did my blood work. She didn't want to discuss anything about PCOS and my other problems until she had all the blood work back. Well I went yesterday and she is knowledgeable about PCOS. She put me on Byetta (I am going to start tomorrow) she put me on Saw Palmetto because my testoserone level was 99 and for hair loss. I am on aldomet for my high blood pressure ( been on this for a year from my ob) she gave me a shake to drink every morning that is for central obesity and IR. She also gave me another pill and I need to get the name of it . I will post it later. My cholesterol is excellent. I do have to go on the glycemic diet..she has made changes on it for what I need.
I hope all this works.
Mary
I am wondering if anyone has tried the Center for PCOS doc in Jax., Fl. I was thinking about trying it, and wondering what to expect and if it is worth the 5 hour ride!

I live in Jacksonville and NEVER knew there was such a thing as the center for PCOS!! My husband is in the military and so for now I've been going to the doctor on base (not recommended!) I'm SO confused! She will not up my Metformin. I am only taking 500mg a day. Also I've seen 2 docs there and the first one said "yes you have PCOS." and the one I saw yesterday said it's more like "syndrome X" I don't even know what that means! All I know is I am trying to get pregnant and can't!! I want to find a good gyno that KNOWS a little something about PCOS. When I found out what PCOS was I went to the doctor and told her that is what I thought I had. (she had seen me about 3 times prior about these same issues!) SO, long story short if anyone knows where a good gyno is that knows a little something about PCOS PLEASE let me know!!

I've made an appointment there for the 15th of August!! I'm SO excited!! My husband and I are really wanting a baby but the current doctor I have is NO help at all!!! She's obviously never had trouble getting pregnant and doesn't understand the heartbreak and frustration that comes along with that. When I called the Center for PCOS the lady who answered the phone was SO nice and SO helpful!!! I felt good about it just by that one phone call! You better go ahead and make your appt. though b/c here it is June and I can't get in until the middle of August. They are only open on Wednesdays and Fridays, but their after hours message says they will make special arrangements if need be. All the doctors that work there also work at other clinics I believe. My appointment is with Dr. Duffy, anyone had him yet?? Well, good luck!
