Default Jojoba Oil

I am currently in my 2nd month of taking YAZ to help clear up my acne. It seemed to be working during my first pack, but now, 2 weeks into my 2nd pack, I am breaking out badly. I know it takes time to work but I'm getting discouraged.

Does anyone use jojoba oil on their skin? Does it work? If so, how do you apply it?

Yes it does work very well for me. You just apply about 2 squirts from a small spray bottle onto your hands and rub all over your face. Let it penetrate for a few minutes and then apply makeup. Be patient though because it takes about 2 weeks to see significant results.

You leave it on all day? Does it feel/look greasy? I'd rather put it on , let it soak in, and then wash it off. Do you think you would get the same results?

You said 2 squirts from a spray bottle...do you mix it with anything?

I do not mix it with anything. I would think it is better to leave it on because it is supposed to mimic your skin's natural sebum. It you wash it off, then your skin will perceive that you have no sebum and begin overproducing oil causing acne. After a few minutes of letting it soak on my face I use bare minerals foundation and bare minerals mineral veil. My mom has complimented me on how nice my skin looks

Have you noticed any difference in your acne? I am also on YAZ, and I am experiencing breakouts worse than I have had in ten years...so frustrating..

I tried jojoba oil for a few weeks and I didn't see any results in improving acne, but every person has different skin so you never know. I just applied at night before bed, after cleansing etc. It's a shame because I have read so many reviews of jojoba oil where people just raved about it. So it obviously does work for a lot of people.

I just recently started using it (this is day 5), but i really hate the greasy look - i feel like my makeup isn't covering it either, and i use the Bare Essentials stuff. My pharmacist recommended diluting it with a toner to achieve dual results and reduce the greasy, oily look and feel. Has anyone done this? Also, has anyone put it on at night instead of in the morning - i've been applying mine in the morning after cleansing, but i've been using a cotton round to apply and rubbing it on, rather than my hands. I have noticed very slight changes in my skin already though.

I use Jojoba!!!! That is my staple moisterizer.

The reason is great for Oily/acne type skin is because it mimicks your face's natural sebum (oil). It tricks it into thinking that its oily enough so it doesnt need to produce more. It WILL NOT help "clear up" your acne. It has NO MEDICATED ingrediant. However Jojoba will not break you out. Here is why. Jojoba isnt really an oil. Its a wax, which is why it has an almost indefinate shelf life. You may have some intial purging (as I did) but thats just your sebum regulating. But also, your breakouts could be caused from the YAZ. Right before AF I always have one or two huge pimples. It comes with the hormonal territory!

Acne is a complex beast. I think Jojoba is the best thing for it because 1) its truely non-comadeginic (sp lol) because it doesnt have any fatty acids like other oils ie - olive, argan, rosehip, coconut 2) its all natural. Its scarry to look at all the junk that its commerical moisterizers ewww.

My method is this - I keep it in a dropper bottle, and put a few drops on my palm, and rub in both AM and PM. For nighttime, the shine is okay but for in the daytime I put tranlucent powder over it to "set" it. Similar to what you would do to "set" your foundation. The brand is TheBalm and it works well. I used to use mineral veil but it dryed my skin out.

ETA: I used tea tree oil on my occasional breakout and it works wonders. I was apprehensive because i have extremely sensative skin due to rosacea but The Body Shop's brand of TTO is perfect!

Yasmin8: Spray bottle huh? I have NEVER thought of that!! What a great idea! Ill have to try that!

Hope this helps dear!
