I'm considering doing a juice fast and colon cleanse. Has anyone else done this before? What did you use for the colon cleanse? What were your results?

This is probably more than you wanted to know, but...
I've done seasonal kidney, liver, and colon cleanses using products from American Botanical Pharmacy (herbdoc.com).
The colon cleanse involves first getting your bowels moving at a normal frequency... 'normal' meaning once about 30 minutes after every substantial meal, roughly at least two or three times a day. If one's bowels do not move at this rate, then one would take the intestinal formula #1 starting with one capsule per day and increasing by one additional capsule each day until that rate is achieved. It contains: Curaco and Cape Aloe Leaf, Senna Leaves and pods, Cascara Sagrada aged bark, Barberry root bark, Ginger rhyzome, Garlic bulb, and Habanero peppers.
After the frequency is established, the next step is to take Intestinal formula #2 which draws the old fecal matter out of the bowel. It contains: flax seed, apple fruit pectin, pharmaceutical grade bentonite clay, psyllium seed and husk, slippery elm inner bark, marshmallow root, peppermint leaf and activated willow charcoal. This formula is taken 5 times a day (in capsule or powder form) with 8 oz of water.
The catalog gives full instructions on how to do the bowel detox and cleanses. The kidney and liver cleanses involve two days of raw foods and three days of juice fasting, so I have done that as well, but it was incorporated with detoxifying herbal formulas, too.
I noticed that after the second bowel cleanse... It sounds redundant, but you can feel how much cleaner the insides of your bowels are. This is SOOOO TMI, but before the cleanses, sometimes when I was done pooing it still felt like more was in there... now I don't ever have that. My husband, who is more on the constipated side than I am has had even better results. He only used to poo every couple days and now goes at least twice a day. It used to take him a good half hour in the bathroom and now it takes only a couple minutes.
Last but not least the juice fasting that I did in combination with the herbs was really helpful for me. Some of the herbal formulas I was taking before the cleanses became more effective, I noticed a general decline in the number of aches, pains, and soreness in my joints, I ovulated for the first time in my life after my first cleanse, I had increased energy, I know I'm forgetting others.
Hopefully this helps some. Good luck finding something that works for you!

I'd been searching the internet, but it sometimes gets confusing. I had previously tried a colon cleanse (can't remember the brand) but I had such a hard time drinking it. It was absolutely revolting. So, I really want to do the juice thing, but I know that I also need to colon cleanse at the same time so the toxins have a way out. I'm going to check for the items you mentioned, to see if I can get them around here.
Question for you....how long did you cleanse/fast for? I've seen some where the cleanse lasts 3 months?!

The first bowel cleanse I did was 5 days. My bowels at that time were more on the overactive side, so I didn't need to take the IF(Intestinal Formula)#1 to get them moving more frequently. I just took one IF#1 and 5 doses of IF#2 per day for five days. That's it. The first one, I didn't even change what I was eating.
For the second and rest of the bowel cleanses, I did them during my seasonal kidney/liver cleanses, which also only last five days. I, too have seen cleanses that last forever, but the above 5 day long ones are REALLY thorough and only last five days and are even designed to be done at work during the workweek. If you find you need a longer cleanse, (ie if you are sicker) then you just do back to back cleanses until symptoms have resolved. I haven't done them back to back yet, but was going to try to do so in the Fall.
The intestinal formulas are now both in capsule form so you don't have to drink the clay drink. Wow, I just found the handbook online... here are the instructions for the bowel cleanse... http://curezone.com/schulze/handbook/foundprog2.asp
I just order the products from the catalog. I'm not sure where you live, they do have a store in Marina Del Ray, CA. You can get a free catalog and tape by calling 1800herbdoc. I just really think Dr. Shultz's products are top notch, I'm not affiliated at all.
You're on the right track with knowing that you need a detox/cleanse and knowing that you need to clean out your elimination channels first! Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I bought a cleanse "kit" the other day. I couldn't get the same products here. The one I got is a 32 day cleanse, and it's a capsule format as well. I'm going to start it next weekend, I think.
I definetly think a cleanse is what I need. Not only physically, but mentally as well. I don't know if many other people feel this way, but I feel like life is taking a turn around, and I want to start fresh with my body as well. I want to purge everything negative from my life and start all over.

Congrats! You really sound like you are making some good changes! I hear you... feeling the need to cleanse/purge/detox/start over.... I've been trying to really turn my life around over the past year... In addition to my nutrition regime, I quit a really stressful job and have purged some unsupportive relationships. Sometimes I think the emotional purging is more difficult than the physical!
Good luck with your cleansing!
