If you ever get sick of steamed veggies (trust me, I do) try this. My fave is cauliflower, zucchini, and sweet peppers on the grill. I rinse and chop the cauliflower about 3/4 of an inch thick (not an exact science) and then nuke it for about 3 minutes with a little water. Spray the hot grill with some Pam or whatever you prefer, then throw the cauliflower on and kinda squish the cover of the grill down so it makes contact with a lot of the cauliflower. When the cauliflower is cooked as much as you like (I go for a light brownish where the grill hits it) remove it and spray some of that fake butter spray (I use Parkay) and throw on a bit of season salt. Mmm! The zucchini and peppers, same way, pretty much, but you don't have to pre-cook at all. I also like potatoes and thickly sliced onion cooked on the Foreman grill.
I rarely cook meat on it since I have the old one, where you can't remove the plates. I think your newer version might be better to clean. I have cooked pretty much everything on it. You can do a chicken breast on it pretty quickly. I really love the veggies on it, though.
Boy I really mucked up dinner. My chicken thighs were crunchy on the outside and raw on the inside. That's only good when it's a chocolate chip cookie. And a cookie is not as likely to give you salmonella.
I think tomorow I'll try hamburgers. How can I possibly screw that up?
my number one tip for the george forman grill is to NEVER use dawn power dissolve on it to get rid of caked on, hard to remove food. it eats the teflon on the grill. we used our grill a lot at first, but the darn thing became such a nuissence to clean, that we have two of them in the cabinet and they are hardly ever used. im just a lazy dishwasher though if i use it at all these days, its for texas toast, cuz it makes it really crispy and good!
We have the old style and last nite had chicken breast cooked on it .. mmmm .. was very good even though its a pain in the ain to clean .. might look into the new style !

I am vegan and eat a lot of veg. The grill is the best way to cook veggies. It keeps in more nutrients than any other method and keeps the veggies nice and crunchy and tasty.

We are big on Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches in this house. One of my favorite snacks is to take some asperagus (sp) drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil on it, rub in some salt, pepper, seasoning mix of choice (I love the steak seasoning) and grill YUMMY.

I love to grill chicken breasts on the GF grill, marinaded in various sauces of my DH's and my invention!
My favourite is rosemary, lemon and black pepper...mix with a little olive oil and a little salt.
DH loves tandoori: 1 tbsp tandoori paste, 2 tbsp natural yoghurt, splash of lemon juice and some corriander...maks very good kebabs!
I have the new one and it's still a bit of a bugger to clean...it just doesn't *feel* very stable!

Dude! I was just going to start this thread! I bought one two days ago but I haven't used it yet. I got the model where you can take the plates out and stick them in the dishwasher. It was like 80 bucks. That was the biggest problem I had with the old one...if I made hamburgers then it would take forever to clean off the plates. I too am looking for some recipes. I'm intrigued by the whole grilling veggies thing. I can't wait to give that a try.
Does anyone marinate veggies at all? Any good recipes in that category? Thanks!
Annie- You can marinate veggies and throw them on the GFG. I have always drizzled EVOO on them with some Lawry's Seasoning Salt and some pepper, they come out great! I have done eggplant slices, zuchinni, sugar snap peas, squash, asparagas. I bought the Lawry's Lemon Pepper not to long ago, another cyster suggested it on veggies and it is really good. Put some EVOO and some of the Lawry's Lemon Pepper on them and throw them on the grill.
If, I put chicken on the GFG I always use skinless, boneless chicken breast, I tried once with chicken with the bone and it didn't come out very good. I have put pork chops on there before and they came out great.
Another great marinade for veggies or for meat that is fast and easy for the GFG is Mrs. Dash 10 minute Marinade. I have tried the Mesquite Grill and it was really good. It is salt-free and No MSG.
I have an older one and have never had an issue cleaning it. Weird. It's so easy. Just get it really hot and wipe down with a wet cloth. It's a ***** to clean when it's cold.
Ours is used most often for burgers.

LOL Sandra! My problem is the after dinner food coma, like I have right now! I am SOOO lazy when it comes to cleaning up right after dinner. With my old one, I used to just leave it on the counter all gunked up until I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. It would be pretty funny to see this sparkling clean kitchen with the George Foreman eyesore on the counter.
