Hi Jen and welcome to the board
One fasting blood sugar reading of 140 is not enough to diagnose diabetes. You may find this site helpful: http://www.endocrineweb.com/diabetes/diagnosis.html
Also, what type of blood pressure medicines are you on? The article in the link above mentions diuretics as contributing to high blood sugars. Another type of bp med that does this is beta blockers. Both of these can worsen insulin resistance as well, and cause metabolic resistance when trying to lose weight. Many docs are unaware of this. If you are on either type of bp med I mentioned, let me know and I can give you specific research articles about this. I was able to convince my doc to switch me to an ace inhibitor after being on Atenolol (beta blocker) for many years once I brought him articles to back me up, and you might want to do the same.
A hysterectomy will not cure you of PCOS; it is a metabolic syndrome that is systemic and not really a female body part problem. You may find that a low carb diet combined with the Met and synthroid, your symptoms will lessen over time. This does not happen overnight, so be patient and give your body time to normalize. Also spend some time reading the research articles on this site, as well as the archives on the message boards (especially the Met and thyroid forums).
