Cool Just curious..maybe this is crazy

Hi all - New to the site and not really sure where to go for this information.
I found recently that I have PCOS and the dr. put me on birth control to help counteract some of the symptoms. I heard that since I've not been fertile for so long and now I'm on the pill - that its possible to go into some sort of "overdrive" and be able to get pregnant! Is that true? I've been on the pill for going on the third month now and I've been fairly good about taking it every day. There have been a couple days where I've missed and so doubled up the next day. Can anyone give me any feedback on this? I know it might sound out there but I'm real curious about it and I can't seem to find anything to back up that information.

I've heard that some doctors put patients on birth control for a few months to try and jump start their cycles when they come off the birth control, but I haven't heard that you're more fertile when you are actually on the birth control.

I have always used BCPs to jumpstart my cycles, would go on them for 5-12 months or so (until I couldn't stand them any more), and each time I went off them, my cycles would be normal. I went on them once when my weight was too high and I had stopped menstruating (that's when I got the PCOS diagnosis), a second time when my weight got too low and I stopped menstruating, and then a third time for actual birth control. After I went off the last time, I was regular as clockwork, and I was able to get pregnant twice without any other drugs or other intervention. The first pregnancy didn't sustain itself but as for the second....see my signature.

I don't think you are more fertile when you're actually taking the pills, but using the pill to regulate your cycle and allowing the pills to do some of the hormonal stuff your body has been trying to do on its own and has been out of whack may contribute to you being more fertile once you stop. I don't know what got me pregnant, but it's either short bursts on bcps, low-carbing, or weight management or some combination of all three.
