Unhappy Just diagnosed.....

I just got diagnosed w/ PCOS, yesterday. And to be honest with you, I'm a bit numb. My husband and I got married last August and I went off BCP in September. I noticed that I had gain a bit of weight in my stomach area, and thought it was weird because my lifestyle hadn't changed.

Now that we've not conceived yet, my gyno had me do some blood tests and sure enough I have PCOS.

As I'm now reading on it, I realize that I have others symptoms like: insomnia, mood swings, headaches, skin tags, etc.... all of this in the past year. UUGH!

I was on BCP from the age of 16 to 33, and my understanding is that some BCP's are used to regulate women w/ PCOS, so that is probably why, I wasn't aware that I had it.

I have my first comsultation w/ my doctor on Monday. Maybe it will give me some time to absorb it all.

Thanks for listening.....

Hi and Welcome to Soulcysers!!!!!
Where we all share having the "wonderful" PCOS.
You will find lot's of information and support from some awesome cysters.

Good luck with your doctor's appointment, and yes it is alot to absorb. But there is lot's of treatments, for the symptoms. Medically and alternativly.
Personally I don't like BCP's. I'm currently on Metformin, which has helped me tremendously. Your doctor might talk to you about Met. We also have a board for Metformin, BCP's....even an alternative board, if you decide to go natural.

Hope to see you around,
Take care,

Welcome aboard, probably the last place you figured you'd be or that you had never imagined you'd be here.

I'm like you, just recently, my tum started getting flabby and my weight shot up out of the blue. I blamed it on being married Not that I'd give that up

I was first diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and not just Hypothyroidism, but with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and my dermatologist said something about the possibility of PCOS. Sure enough, my endo did blood work and i'm on the high side of normal and have started taking 50 mcgs of Spironolactone twice daily. It's helped with the acne and my Synthroid for my Thyroid has helped with weight and feeling better overall.

Everyone here has been very helpful and will lend an ear or a shoulder. You're in good hands here.
