Just Diagnosed

Hello everyone :]

First I'd like to introduce myself as I am new here, My names Heather & I'm 18 turning 19 in 3 weeks. [yay

I'm not going to get into my whole life story as I'm sure you have all been there before. Basically I haven't had my period for almost a year now, Finally went to the doctor about 4-5 months ago. Went through a BUNCH of tests & blablabla.. I'm sure you know how it goes. Finally got diagnosed 2 days ago, I'm upset but I've known for 5 months that this is what I had.. The symptoms just matched & I just had that "feeling".

Now my main reason for this thread is I'm kind of confused. I see many women on here being on different medications, taking different vitamins, being on a strict diet. My concern is: My gyno put me on birth control pills [yasmin] and I'm a little confused. I was already aware that birth control pills & metformin we're the most common meds. But why oh why didn't he put me on a diet? or suggest a diet?

Also, I thought one of the MAIN things to all this was to make sure we're having regular monthly periods? Am I wrong about this? My gyno told me that I won't be having periods on this type of pill. I should have asked then but later on it dazed me that I'm still not going to have periods.

I'd really REALLY love any help any of you can possibly give me, I'm not new to the symptoms or realizations. But I'm new to the treatment & I'm insanely confused lol.
