I've been dealing with this going on four years. I cried all day and had to leave work the day my doctor called me with the news. I too was "prepared" but thought it was too soon to happen to me. After you get through the mourning period it does get easier. The good thing about it was diagnosing my disease allowed me to finally get pregnant with my daughter who will be 3 in July. Once I started treatment a lot of problems I'd been having physically got better. I know I will live longer now since I'm getting treatment. If you take care of yourself and have good medical staff (yes you now need a whole medical staff) you can live a healthy life for a long time. Actually the quality of my life has improved since I've changed my diet and exercise habits. My best advice is to find a doctor that you are comfortable with and you trust.
