Question Just diagnosed and confused!

Hi everyone!
I am a 35 year old woman who was diagnosed with PCOS in mid October and am incredibly confused by all of the information. I have 5 year old and suffered a miscarriage in May, both pregnancies happened within 3 months of going off the pill. After the miscarriage I just never had my period again and since my husband and I were anxious to start trying as soon as possible we went to the doctor - enter PCOS diagnosis.
I have tons of questions....does that mean I have late onset PCOS, or did the pill keep it at bay? Do you go on Metformin only to conceive or is a drug that you stay on for most of your life?
We have started going to a fertility doctor and will she put me on Clomid by itself or does that usually get perscribed with Metformin?
I have also started to put on some weight in my middle - is there a special diet that I should be following or is that just one of the BS things I will have to deal with from now on?
Sorry for all the questions - but the Newbie is confused!
Thanks!
Christine

well i am on metformin...we are ttc also..i cant afford the clomid..i know metformin helps but clomid is strong...your not late you can get it at any age...im 25 and didnt know i had it till june 2008 but probably had it sooner..miscarriages do run in pcos suffers...bc can help it stay stable but its not the best for it..maybe bc and another pill...metformin is not only to concieve but it helps with the insulin resistance and also helps minimize pain...as long as you have pcos you should take metformin or something for it...if not you will have no energy be weak sore and hurt and be veyr tired trust me i know from prior experience...if you have any other questions feel free to ask...

Wink Help

Hi I am a newbie too, and yes we have the same questions just the other day I was asking my mom how long do I have to be on this medication is it for the rest of my life because I am so tired of taking all this medicine I feel like a pharmacy. But I have other issues--I take metformin to help regulate my period (so far it has) but will I get a period with out the metformin?I am just as confused as you are, I hope we both get our answers because I have been ttc since the age of 19 I am now 28 with no children but I still have hope. I suffer from thyroid issues along with high cholesterol and I am pre-diabetic (I wonder if I am in a class all by myself) but my blood pressure is perfect thank the Lord All in all we are on a long journey and I hope to see you at the finish line. Take Care

from what i hear if you stop taking it..it will go back to not ovulating again...it can be scary and i wish there was an easier way for all of us...but right now this is all they got for us...and as long as you want regular periods and less pain its metformin or of course like i said to you earlier hysterictomy...
