Hi everyone!
A month ago, I didn't know what PCOS is. Now I feel like it is taking over my life. I was diagnosed after my period was two weeks late. My husband Andy and I went from being overjoyed at the thoughts of being pregnant to being emotionally destroyed. I am 25 with a severe family history of ovarian cancer. I am so scared and confused and have no idea what to do. I am currently waiting for my million tests to come back before we return to our specialist in New Jersey. Andy and I have discussed everything from adoption to having my very fertile sister be a surrogate. It helps to know you guys are out there and I'm not alone, I just wanted to thank you all so much. Jen

Thank you all so much, it has helped me so much just knowing there are so many women out there with PCOS. My test results are in and I meet with the specialist again Tuesday. Just trying to take it step by step. Thanks again!
I know how you feel. I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago as well. The whole thing has been very distracting and depressing. Don't get too worked up just yet. I am trying to stay positive. Reading all of the sucess stories on this board has been helpful, but some stories are scary and overwhelming as well. Just try not to take the worst case scenario. I have been put on Metformin and I will not have anymore tests runs until December. I have no idea if it is working or not. I'd be interested in what your Dr.'s advice is. Keep me posted. Maybe we can be a resource to one another.

Hello everyone! I had a very positive and optimistic doctor's appointment last night. Because my husband and I aren't ready to start trying to conceive, they are putting me on the birth control pill Yasmin. This should level out my hormone inbalance of creating too much testosterone. It is a diuretic so I will lose the extra fifteen pounds I've put on lately, and help clear up my acne and oily skin. They will monitor how I'm responding to it but, since I was on the pill for so many years prior to all this, it should be no problem. When we do decide to start trying, I will be put on Clomid. Luckily my insulin levels haven't been affected so I won't need to take Metformin in addition to the Clomid. My doctor did tell me, however, that it could take up to five years to get pregnant. If by then, we haven't gotten pregnant, we will have to think of other alternatives. So I feel good. I was nervous, worst case scenarios going through my head, but I think we're headed in the right direction.
I am so glad to see that your appointment went well. Dealing with PCOS can be very overwhelming at times but you have found a wonderful place for information and support by joining Soul Cysters. Everyone has different symptoms and things they deal with so if you have questions just ask because someone here can answer them. God Bless!
Amy

Hi, I am Beckie, Welcome to SC. I am brand new myself. Was diagnosed in 2004. I bawled when i was diagnosed.. I finally had a name for why I was "defective". I was sad and happy all at the same time. I hope this board gives you some answers and support that you need.
