Default Just diagnosed...glad to be here!

I'm so glad to find an active forum to help me wade my way through this new diagnosis!

I'm Megan. 24 mom of 2. I was diagnosed one week ago with PCOS based on symptoms (unexplained weight gain, cysts in ovaries/pain in ovaries, acne, body hair, irregular menses). My doc started me on metformin, which has been really icky so far to tell the truth...

I have been previously diagnosed with:

JME (juvenile myoclonic epilepsy for which I take keppra)
pernicious anemia (for which I take monthly B-12 injections)
iron-deficiency anemia (currently under control thanks to IV iron)
juvenile pattern arrythmia (which is still not quite figured out)
Hashimoto's chronic thyroidits (two nodules, goiter right now, on synthroid)
asthma (pulmicort and Pro-Air rescue inhaler)
GAD (xanax as needed)
GERD (no meds currently)
arthritis (in spine, knees, ankles)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Delayed nerve reaction in lower extremities (probably from spinal injuries)
liver enlargement/elevated liver enzymes
some kind of blood clotting problem (doc calls blood "sticky", no known cause)

I am also a 2X Hyperemesis Gravidarum survivor; several of my diagnoses are post-pregnancy.

If you made it that far, you're a saint!

I'm hoping to get some help to figure out how to treat the PCOS and maybe even figure out for sure if I *have* PCOS. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

I literally got confused after the 1st condition

Welcome!

I am recently diagnosed as of November, started Met in January and agree with you on the icky feelings.

Met has helped me alot to regulate my periods, other than that I don't see much other change except a general better overall feeling.

Welcome!

Wow, that is some list.. I thought I was bad.. I bet that costs a pretty penny paying for all those meds.
