Smile Just diagnosed with PCOS..

I was diagnosed yesterday with PCOS.

I started having irregular periods a few months ago. Also, I have noticed a little bit of pain in my abdomen/pelvic area. I also have gained a good bit of weight (40 lbs in 3 years), have acne, dandruff, etc. When I went in for my yearly physical I just mentioned it, not really thinking much of it. My OB ended up mentioning PCOS, and ordered a bunch of blood work.

Well, I went in and got the results from my blood work yesterday. We ended up also doing a transvaginal ultrasound as well (fun, fun!).

I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had tons of little cysts on both of my ovaries. Plus, the blood work confirmed it too. I also have some fluid in my pelvic area, but he told me not to worry about that too much right now. But, that was kind of unusual.

He prescribed me Glucophage.

I have to go back in a month. He wants me to try and lose some weight. He thinks that will help my health overall.

Sorry if that sounds all jumbled up..

I guess one of my main questions is this...Has anyone else had the fluid thing in their pelvic area?? This is really what worries me the most right now. Because I can't really find alot of info on why that would be there. And I have been feeling extremely bloated/having mild pain in my pelvic area for about 2 weeks now.

i have constant pelvic pain too. Not sure what it is, really. all the best for the glucophage. I find that as long as i dont eat greasy/fatty/sugar foods and always eat with the met i am ok with it.

Hi Jenn! Reading most of your post was like reading about me. I also just went in for an annual exam and mentioned to my gyno. that my periods had been irregular lately but that i was chalking it up to stress from ttc. He ordered blood tests, and poof, I have PCOS. I have also put on some weight in the last couple of years, I just thought it was me getting older and my metabolism slowing down.( I am so naive, I know!) Anyway, I can't relate to the pelvic pain or the fluid, but I wanted to say welcome from one newbie to another!

Seems like there are alot of girls from GA here. I am from South Carolina, do u think its something in the water? jk!
