Default Just diagnosed with PCOS 3 days ago.

Hi everyone,

My name is Emily, and I was just diagnosed with PCOS three days ago. I've been struggling with the symptoms for a long time, and like many other people, it's really taken a toll on me. My doctor started me on Metformin for insulin resistance and also an anti-anxiety medication for the first couple of months. I am really anxious to see where this treatment takes me.

I found a diet in a PCOS book that my mother bought for me that I am trying. It primarily uses foods low on the glycemic index, but also low carb foods. I am only on day #2, but I am adding 40 minutes of physical activity to my schedule every day, because I am hopeful that this time, with the help of my medicine, the weight loss will really happen.

I am really happy to have found this message board. I think it will be really helpful to know that there are other women going through the same things I am. I'm just really hopeful that I can finally tame these symptoms -- I'm only 22, I just got married in December, and I'm going to graduate school in the fall. So I have a lot to look forward to. And now, with the help of my doctor, I can look forward to getting better, too!

Okay, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope you are all having a great day.
