I can understand your dilemma - I was just diagnosed with "a touch of diabetes.." (What IS that anyway?....

) this past week. Like you, I knew it, too. But, it doesn't make it easier hearing it from the professionals, you know?
I knew my own body, that something was wrong, and have seen first hand the complications that diabetes can cause. But, I've seen people live long lives with it, too. I'm trying to remain positive -- at least I now know why I feel so bad and I am the only one who can make it better - by making better food choices and increasing my activities (Note: in my world, "diet" and "excercise" are not really popular so I don't use them here.)
One thing I also found interesting is a thought expressed to me yesterday by a colleague and friend who goes to the gym, loses weight and is really positive (don't you just hate her already!!

). She told me not to let my past influence my future -- shrug off all of the other attempts and look at them as learning experiences. She had tried over the years to lose the extra weight she gained in pregnancy and from a sedentary lifestyle. She says that if you dwell on the past, you won't be able to make positive future changes. It's all in your attitude -- and the first little steps you take. I think it good advice and thought I'd pass it on....
Best of luck to you..
