I was diagnosed today. At the doctor's office I wasn't so freaked out because I just thought I would be getting BCP's and that would clear my acne and regulate my cycle. As I was researching I noticed that about 30% of women diagnosed with PCOS you could say 'caught' diabetes. If 5-10% women have PCOS, then 30% is a hugggee possibility! I'm going to cry.
I think I'll get the results to my blood work on wednsday.
Welcome to the site! Trust me it gets better as you find out more and more about PCOS! I was the exact same way until I started to do some major research and I found websites like this one. Good Luck!

Yes 30% is a big number, but I would say that 70% not getting it is a good sign. Look at it this way, say that there are only 1,000 women in the world and 10% get PCOS. So now you are talking about 100 women with PCOS. Take 30% of that and you only have 30 women who have PCOS also are diabetic. And if you do end up being in that group, there are lots of treatment options. One of which is just watching what you eat and exercising. So don't look at it as you have a 30% chance of getting it. Think about the 70% chance of not getting it. One way that will help you to get in the 70% group is, if needed, change your eating habits to a more diabetic friendly diet.
Welcome and if you ever need anything just ask. Someone on here can help you out no matter what the question may be about!
