Hi, I was just diagonosed with PCOS. I think. The doctor says "It's a syndrome, not a diagnosis" so I don't really understand. I took a bunch of blood tests.
I have a big ratio problem with two hormone levels (the stimulating one and the lutenizing one? sorry...new to this).
But...I have tons of estrogen, and almost no free testosterone about, and no progesterone. I am very low in these two areas, which doesn't make sense?
I have had normal periods my entire life, and have never ever skipped one.
I have always been slim.
I probably had two zits in my life.
I do have facial hair. I have had it since my twenties, even though I am totally fair (I am a redhead with tons of hair on my head). So I never got that. I always thought I was the only one. It has gotten worse through the years.
Anyway....I have always had EXTREME PMS, and also have a long history of eating disorders. I am forty, and probably had disordered eating/excercise habits/purging from ages 15-30. I wonder if this has messed things up. I feel it has.
I am now on Yasmin, and reading so many bad things about it, it freaks me out. I had some side-effects initially, but they seem to have died down. I will start my second pack tommorow, since I am taking them continuously.
My left foot feels a bit crampy on the bottom, which I think is such a freaky side effect. And my breasts are a bit bigger.
My hair seems a bit less.
I don't really understand any of this, and my gyno acted like it was all no big deal, and treated me like a freak for asking questions.
Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks for reading.
