Default Just Dx with Hypothyroidism

Hi Ladies,

I am new to this board since I have recently been dx hypo and mild PCOS. My TSH level is at 11 and I am working on getting them down to 1 before OBGyn will give me Clomid to start ovulation. PCOS was not detected in insulin levels from bloodwork but cysts were seen from intravag u/s. I am only on 50 mcg of Synthroid from OBGyn and waiting to get into Endo mid-August. So for the time being, TTC kinda on hold till I get this leveled out.

I am flustered that this was just dx considering I have so many of the symptoms of being hypo. Bloodwork was never done previously So in the midst of holding out on TTC (doesn't matter since I am not Oing anyways) and learning about being hypo I am also researching lots on PCOS. I expect to be around here often

Good luck to all of you I am 27 in MD. DH is 28. Married 8/09/08. TTC since 4/1/09.

I haven't found hypo too difficult to deal with, and after getting on generic synthroid, I felt so much better. Some of the hair at my scalp came back and the Spiro is helping even more (I was diagnosed hypo about a year ago, and just figured out the PCOS), and I had energy again for the first time in months. Just make sure they are keeping track of your levels with repeat blood work, as after the first month, they tripled my dose to help me even more. Good Luck and baby dust!

Thanks so much, Sara Elizabeth. My dosage won't change till I see the Endo in mid August but in the timebeing, at least I am on something! I am not expecting my levels to go down too much since my dose is so low and TSH is 11 but maybe it will change some. I am exhausted and always have been...not sure if I am noticing a difference yet. I know it takes months for the changes to happen so I am trying to be patient. On a good note, my nails are getting strong and growing!! That's great news since they have always been peeling and brittle my whole life. I am encouraging my mom to have her levels tested now since she shows many of the same symptoms but was never dx. GL and lots of baby dust to you too!

Thank you! On the nails, do you take Vit D? Many cysters are clinically low on vit D and starting 2000mg of it and 1200 of calcium have given me nails of steel for the first time in my life. I actually had to cut my nails because they were getting too long, not reshape them due to them breaking. It's another blood test, but knowing and treating it has made the biggest difference in my life.
