hey all. my name is vanessa, and im from pa. im 15, and i was diagnosed at 13, when i started noticing dark hairs on my chin and neck. since then, the hairs have increased and i've developed pretty bad acne. i actually joke with my 16 year old brother that i have a nicer beard than him. i was quite an active child but the pcos really hurt my self esteem and i gained about 20 pounds in 2 years. in september i moved to my grandparents house in massachussetts. ive had a hard time adjusting here but some good things have come out of it and ive started to work out and eat right, and lost 15 pounds. i also started electrolosys treatments. ive only had about 4 so far, but im seeing a little bit of improvements. im on BCP and 100 mg of spiro. i've actually been on them since i was diagnosed, but when i was quite depressed i stopped taking all of my pills. i've restarted them a couple of months ago, and im seeing small improvements, but only time will tell. i think that this is a great place for support for a really tough thing to go through. well, now that i've told you all my whole life story, i guess i can shut up now ;-)

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I think it's great that you are diagnosed so young, i had symptoms since i hit puberty and would have saved myself a lot of heartache and symptoms had i had a dr willing to be thorough enough to find the root of my problems. There is a lot of great information and supportive women here, good luck!
