I just would like to say that I have just lost my 3rd pregnancy to miscarriage on Friday. This time, we thought that we would really take it easy throughout. I didn't do any cooking, cleaning, no labor at all. I worked 3 days each week as a dental hygienist (which I still do), took Metformin everyday, chewable aspirin everyday, prenatals everyday and still lost my baby at 10 weeks.
There is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent miscarriage. More than likely if it happens its due to a genetic/chromosomal issue as you probably have read. I would just say TRY to stay calm and not worry. Its hard but try your best not to. I would also suggest speaking with your provider about this issue and maybe they can test your betas weekly until you feel comfortable about things. I am not telling you this to scare you but I just want you to realize that I thought I could prevent a miscarriage and I thought I was doing EVERYTHING right and it still happened.
Good Luck and Best Wishes.

My Mood: Points: 1,364.52 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,364.52 | I just wanted to say congrats on your pregnancy. Last year I mc on April 6th. This pregnancy was a shock for we did not do fertility like we did for both our sons. Our world was rocked when we found out we were pregnant (from total shock and happiness) and one week to the day it was rocked again when we lost our baby. I went back to the doctor for an 8 week appt and found out I was pregnant again. She started me on progesterone suppositories immediately until I was 12 weeks pg. I was already taking an asprin a day (81mg). Today I have a healthy baby girl. She was born on January 9th. I too was scared to death but relax it is all in God's hands.

My Mood: Points: 4,380.92 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,380.92 | I know how scared you are; I was the same way. But here is what I learned: definitely take the progesterone if your levels are low (get your doc to check them), and start taking folic acid. My OB put me on 5 mg on top of what was in my prenatal vitamin. This goes a long way towards preventing spina bifida, which is another cause of miscarriage.
As for helping with stress, are you into Yoga? I don't have the patience for it, but I seem to be in the minority... |

There were several of us a few years ago that started a thread up called Pregnancy after a Loss, and before that we were on TTC after a Loss...and many of us are still around as Mommies after a loss As i think of our dear friend Maggie who was with us the entire way and has sinced passed i cant help but think of something somebody said during those days that always stuck with me...even through my bedrest and cerclage, even though I was always worried that something would happen....i tried to enjoy the experience as best i could...
i'd repeat it to myself all the time - "worrying wont change the outcome" - so therefore...dont waste time with it...save your energy for keeping yourself healthy and doing everything you can do, cuz what ever happens is out of our control. So my advice to you is...enjoy the moments...cuz soon they turn around and you dont know where the time went!

I know that it is much easier said than done, but try to relax and enjoy every part of your pregnancy. I had a previous m/c too, so I know that it's definitely not an easy thing to do.
Ask your dr to test your betas and do repeats, and to check your progesterone. That should give you a little reassurance. Believe me though, the worrying never stops. I'm this far and I still worry from time to time about different things. It's just part of being a mommy. I'm told it continues even after childbirth.
I wish you the absolute very best! Again, Congrats!!!!

Well, I just got another BFP 4 days ago, and it is all I can think about! If we can just make it to 12 weeks, the risks go way down...

My Mood: Points: 914.96 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 914.96 | I recently m/c (first m/c, second pregnancy) I know when I ttc again I will be unbelievably nervous of another m/c. I take metformin and will continuing it throughout the first trimester if I succeed another pregnancy. I also take 1 baby aspirin - my doc put me on it after pregnancy confirmation (it helps reduces chances of preeclampsia - had it with my first pregnancy 10 years ago). I am anxious and scared to try. Just try to relax and let your body do what it needs to in order to hopefully have a H&H 9 months. |
