Hello! I was just diagnosed with PCOS, and I'm actually glad... It makes so many of the things I've been experiencing make sense. I don't have to feel like a hypochondriac anymore! I'm only 10 pounds or so overweight, and got pregnant really easily (although I was 10 pounds lighter then, so who knows if I would now!), but was still planning on starting with diet and exercise. There's so many other things out there... for others who might read this, how did you start? Did you start with drugs/alternative... I'd love to know because I'm feeling overwhelmed by options.
Hi Kdixon6, I got put on birth control pills and adlactone, neither one of them worked.. so I went the natural route
I changed my diet to only eating - brown rice, buckwheat, salads, whole milk, lean meat, eggs, fish... basically no sugar, no white flour, no processed foods
I take multi-vitamins, drink women's liberty tea to help balance hormones, take apple cider vinegar for insulin resistance, take maca also to balance hormones -- All have worked wonders
Welcome! My doctor immediately started me out on Metformin, because I was Insulin Resistant as well. It was a sense of relief for me as well, it was like, "oh my gosh, this all adds up. i'm not crazy, there is a reason behind it all!!!" Hope you enjoy the boards!!

I was the exact same way about feeling relieved. Now you can look for ways to treat PCOS, not just wonder about the the things you are experincing and knowing that it is not normal!
I was actually diagnosed 3 years ago and was put on birth control. Now I an getting married and getting off birth control, so I am trying to find out the same basic things you are! How to have a baby!
Good luck!
Thanks for all the comments... Everyone on this board is so nice! I'm a little intimidated by major diet changes (I'm REALLY addicted to all things carb... and not the good kind), but I think it sounds like I need to at least head in that direction. I also went and got the "undistilled" apple cider vinegar and am working up the nerve to take a shot of it! I have a 14 month old who never sleeps, so it's hard to get motivated to do any major changes, but it makes it easier when you have some help figuring out which direction to take. Thanks!
