Default Just got my results back....

He just said 'normal range'. So I asked for numbers and was told 3.0. This was TSH (the only test he ordered for my thyroid testing). Is this number ok? I'm ttc... I've heard a number closer to 1 is better, but dr said he won't treat me because my tsh is in the normal range. Does this sound right? Is it an ok number? I don't want anything to ruin my ttc/carrying a pregnancy chances. Thanks!

I was told 2.5 if you're ttc- I was at 3.98 so they started to treat me, we're still using the old values in Canada (5) so its a bit of a fight to get treatment- I have a history of m/c right when thyroid function is key and it looks like its worked since I am now 24 weeks along in my pregnancy. But your dr is right in saying you're within normal ranges and it shouldn't cause too many issues.

I disagree. Yes, technically you're right at the top of the new normal range. But for some of us 'normal' causes issues. My TSH was under 3 and I benefitted greatly from treatment with Armour. You may have to check with a few doctors before you find one that will listen to you.
