Just heard about PCOS...and wondering ...

Hi, I'm Estee...

A girlfriend of mine suggested that I get on-line and start asking questions, since I seem to have some of the symptoms of PCOS...I'm a little daunted and over-whelmed at the moment...there is so much information and this is just day-one for me.
Mostly, I've been having irregular periods, some acne, mood swings etc... and since I've been charting my basal body temperatures, I've been noticing a trend that indicates that I'm not ovulating, but keep trying...all the signs are there that I will ovulate. I feel ovarian pain etc...
I had a 70-day cycle, so I went to the Dr. in Jan. and he gave me some meds and it forced me to menstruate. I had a 'normal' period in March on my own, but now it looks like I'm going all irregular again...
I had my annual visit 2 weeks ago and my Dr. said everything was fine, pap fine..so I'm wondering what the deal is. I'm very frustrated...My symptoms seem similar to those of PCOS, but also much less severe. I don't even know if I'm in the right place or not. If anyone has anything to say, I'd be grateful.

Hi and Welcome! All the information associated with PCOs is so over-whelming, isn't it?

This particular forum is about Metformin...a specific drug used for treating PCOS. So if you check out the "newbie" forum, it has great stuff on Questions to ask your Dr, getting a diagnosis etc. If you start reading there, it is much more basic information for those trying to figure out if they have it.
