I just came upon your board after doing some online research and think it's wonderful that you've come together to support each other. Hi there!
I haven't been diagnosed PCOS but I am 95% sure that's what's going on with me. I read in one of your forums that someone was making a link between EBV and PCOS, and I'm just raising my hand to agree on that front.
I'm 32, had mono four years ago, and have never been the same since. Constantly fatigued, especially after exercise, lower left abdominal pain, IBS symptoms with the first two days of my menses. I shave my chin, moustache and neck area daily, sometimes twice, and have chest hair and skin tags that pop up at all times. I've never really been thin, but usually in shape, and the extra weight was always in my hips and thighs. Since the mono, I've had a new spare tire that will not go away.
I've had an ultrasound of the spleen with no results, but never an ovarian ultrasound. How common is it, among this board, for you to be un- or misdiagnosed? None of the doctors I've seen have any idea what's happening with me, other than to be frankly disbelieving that the fatigue is real. I've had to leave two jobs because of it, and that was to save myself the ignominy of being fired for multiple absences. So it's with real relief to read that many of you have gone through the same things.
Anyway, thanks for letting me introduce myself! I'll continue with my browsing.
