Anyway, hi! I've checked out these boards before but never gotten around to registering until now. I'm 27, I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago, but I was symptomatic long before that. I have a 4 year old daughter and after I had her, my body pretty much went haywire, I gained 50 pounds in 5 months and eventually found out I was hypothyroid (my TSH was something crazy like 65, and here I had thought it was just postpartum depression..) Anyway, my thyroid levels were eventually stabilized, but I never lost the 50 pounds, and since I was 300 pounds to begin with, that really did a number on me. I've since developed insulin resistance, become anovulatory, stopped menstruating, and a myriad of other things.
I've been casually TTC for the past 6 months, with more effort in the last 3 or so. My nurse practitioner had me cycling with Provera in an attempt to kick-start some menstruation, but it never happened. Right now I'm trying a cycle of Yasmin to see if it will induce menstruation so that I can take Clomid.
In addition to that, I am on:
120mg Armour thyroid
1000mg Metformin
15mg Actos (could NOT handle the 2000mg of Metformin with my IBS.. ugh)
50mg Spironolactone
40mg Protonix
Yasmin
So far it seems that the Metformin/Actos combo has been doing a great job with reducing my insulin levels, but I haven't heard much about the use of it in women who were TTC. Anyone have any experience with that?
As far as non-medical stuff goes, I'm a single mom, a full time student (pre-nursing) and I plan to become a midwife.
Hi and welcome to SC. Don't have any experience with the meds since I am not on any yet. Just found out a couple weeks ago that I have PCOS. I have been to the doctor and got blood work done. Results should be in the next day or so. Sorry I have no advice but with everyone here I am sure they will be able to answer your questions. Welcome :hug

Im on the met, and the spiro. From what my endo told me, you cant take spiro when ttc as it does something to the baby.
