Default Just Prescribed Yasmin - any information?

Hi Ladies!

I was on BCP during the time I was 16 until I was 19. I can't remember what kind they were - the "normal" 4 color circles.

I wasn't on anything until I started having HEAVY cycles (go through dual products in less than an hour) in November of 97 - that's when they started me on provera every month.

Then I started down the long road of TTC

Now my daughter is 4 months old and I've given up breastfeeding, so they want to start me on a Yasmin. They said it was the best BCP for PCOS'ers.

Do any of you happen to know why that is? I'm just curious what I'm getting myself into. I gained 40lbs during the 3 years I was on BCP's before and really would like to avoid doing that again!!

Thanks a ton!
Melody

Yasmin is great because it *usually* doesn't cause women to gain weight. In fact, due to the diuretic effect of the hormone in yasmin, if you drink a lot of water, you are likely to LOSE weight on it.

I don't have any personal stats to share, since I went on yasmin and met at the same time... I don't know whether my modest weight loss is due to yasmin or met.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I started it on Sunday, so here goes nothing!!

It still amazes me that I took pills since 2000 to get pregnant and now I'm taking pills to make sure we don't get pregnant. *sigh* It never ends! haha

Thanks again!
