I'm from Aberdeen as well - well actually about 15 miles north of Aberdeen but I work on the south side of Aberdeen. Whereabouts is your DH from? Does he miss Aberdeen/Scotland alot? Bet he doesn't miss the weather! lol
Feel free to PM me anytime - hands across the water and all that

I'm not a UK cyster, but I wanted to welcome you to the board!
That is so cool that your DH is from Scotland. My maternal grandmother grew up in a small town near Aberdeen called Banff. Has your hubby ever heard of it? I would love to visit Banff and Aberdeen someday.
I am looking forward to getting to know you better!

I've actually been to Banff! My husband's parents took me there one day on a little day trip while he was working. It was a cute little fishing town on the sea. You should definitely go visit Scotland one day, it's beautiful
Wow! That's great that you have been to Banff! Just this past summer, my sister got to go on a trip to England, Scotland and then over to Paris, France. (I was so jealous!) She brought back photos of Banff and it did look like a charming town.
I felt like I knew the place from my grandmother's stories that she used to tell us. For instance, when she was a little girl (in the early 1900's), their schoolteacher took them for a picnic on the lawn near Duff House! My grandfather ran the livery stable there and my sister says there is still a sign that says "livery!"
My sister even took a photo of the house that my grandmother grew up in! You're right, I've GOT to visit there someday!

I have been to Aberdeen when touring Scotland with my son's father who originates from Paisley.
Driving all along the Scottish coastline I saw some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. And there is so much space!
Just as a side note I was most amused to listen to my son's conversation with a friend whose father is also Scottish; they were discussing how they had both been to Scotland with their fathers and visited family and my son's friend said "they don't wear kilts in Scotland really you know..... they wear Adidas"

That's funny! I saw so many kilts there on Hogmany (New Years Eve) though, and my husband wore one for our wedding as did the guests from Scotland
I live in Aberdeen now (not a native though) and I have to say, any excuse and the guys all have their kilts on - it's fantastic! Football match, formal night out, Burn's night, Christmas party......it's coming up to a great time of year!
Just discovered SoulCysters yesterday. Diagnosed with PCOS nearly 2 years ago and was told to go on the pill by my GP. Got married 6 months ago and have come off the pill as wanting to try for baby next year. Putting on weight, skin is bad (spots and hirutism) and have terrible mood swings. Very worried that I won't be able to have children. Just nice to hear that other people know what your going through!
WELCOME, Cathcart!!!
It's nice to have you here. I know that you will love it here and find lots of support. Look around at all the forums and I am sure that you will find lots of helpful advice!
