Question Just started BCP... having side effects, anyone else?

I was finally recently diagnosed with PCOS and put on Estrostep. I have only been on it just over a week, but so far, I have not stopped my period. Not having heavy bleeding but steady enough to make a mess without protection. And a new thing I have noticed is insomnia. I have had this problem in the past but this is different. I am sleeping much lighter when I go to sleep, and awake frequently. The last thing I have noticed is an increase in nightmare activity. I know it sounds dumb but when you wake up all the time anyway it certainly doesn't help you to get back to sleep. Anyone else have any of this from BCP?

Hi Welcome to SC. I am sorry you are having some problems...maybe calling your doctor and seeing what can be done would be the best thing. Feel free to contact me if you wish.

Estrostep was a pill I tried once by accicent. I had bad side effects the whole 3 months and when I complained to my RE she said I should have never been given that one by the nurse. Not good for PCOS was her comment. It is very high in progestin and androgen and lower in estrogen. There are better low estrogen pills to take if the lower estrogen is what you're after.
