Default Just started Met today

So i just started met today, and i am terrified that i am going to get sick in class. Today is the last day of classes and i have like 5 hours nonstop (granted i can leave the room as i see fit) but it's still stressful to think about,, i was wonder just about how long it took people to get side effects... and if every one got the and how long they lasted. thanks!

Metformin used to make me nauseous but then I started taking it after eating a substantial meal and I haven't had any more problems. I hope you get through your day uneventfully.

If you're nauseous try taking it with food. It helped me get rid of that part. As for the other possible unpleasant sid eeffect(s)....carry some Immodium or Pepto with you at all times! Depending on how bad it is you may need the immodium...if it's not too bad but is causing an issue take the pepto.

I get ill about forty to forty-five minutes after taking it and the effect is MUCH lessened if I eat something, too.

I had no side effects at all on 500mg and now that I'm up to 1000 there's a bit of "gastric discomfort", nothing too terrible though.

I'm now up to 1500 mg and have not had any side effects at all (I always take it with food) aside from a little queasiness at times (depending on what I eat) and fatigue. That's all..maybe you won't have any major side effects. I hope not! Good luck!

like the other people said take with/after food and I've found much less tummy problems if you make the first meal of the day high in protein and limit the carbs

I didn't have any side effects from just the one pill a day, now I take 6!! LOL

I've just had my first check up on the Metformin and two pieces of good news! Blood Pressure seems to be under control so I can continue taking it and I've lost half a stone. After years of not losing any weight this is a major achievement.

Question Brand new cyster!

I've been visiting this site for a while, but this is my first post. I am on my 4th day of Metformin, and so far haven't had any truly awful side effects. A little queasy, but nothing I can't handle. The first 2 days, I just took one 500 mg tablet, next two days I took two, and tomorrow I'll bump up to three. After years of trying to loose weight, I am so hoping this will help! Any advise would be appreciated! I'm just sick of watching everything I eat, working out daily, and not loosing weight--in fact, I consistantly gain! Please...someone give me some hope!
