I had my sugar checked this morning after fasting, and it was 81. Yesterday 2 hours after lunch it was 106. I was real dizzy and lightheaded after lunch, but my sugar was in normal range. Help! Anyone know what could be going on? Are these normal sugar levels? The nurse here where I work is going to monitor my levels every morning. We want to know what my normal is so that we can monitor. If my normal is around 80-85 when it gets above 110 could that be bothering me? I don't understand any of this. I am IR and taking 2000mg Met. Could the Met affect the readings?
Lightheaded and dizzy can be a sign of high blood pressure. You might want to go to a drug store a couple times in one day and have it checked to see if it's up.
Hey Leah,
Met is not supposed to alter your blood sugars it works on the insulin and your blood sugars go down that way. I have not had 1 single episode of hypoglycemia since I have been on the 2000mg Met/8mg Avandia when I used to have it all the time on some other combos. I am talking like 37-45 and I got very shaky and disoriented. Those are great #'s both fasting and post prandial. Did you recently start taking this rx or recently up the dose? I would put in a call to your prescribing dr to let him know what is going on and see what he thinks.
Good Luck,
Sherry

I recently upped dose to 2000mg of met. I was told to up it as I could. I had been on it before and had to go off for various reasons and just started back about a month ago. I had no symptoms with 1000mg, so tried 2000mg, think i may have to go down to 1500mg due to stomach issues.
I'm proof of that. I'm diabetic type two, and my sugars have gone from 190's to the normal levels with just 500 mgs of the xr formula of glucophage.
But I do agree, it could be either the glucophage or the blood pressure. But the readings you're posting look good. My only question is what were they an hour or two before/after. Because you can feel that way if you're going lower quickly.
My suggestion would be to contact your prescribing physician.
Take care

Thanks so much for all your advice. I also had my blood pressure checked and it was 110/68, so it was good. I think that my sugar bottoms out sometimes rather than going to high.
