Default Just wanted to say hi

I'm new here. I got diagnosed with PCOS last week. It was a relief finding out what was causing my symptoms, but I still get depressed sometimes because I look at all of the things that need to be corrected in order for me to be "normal" and the tremendous expense that will be incurred and I wonder if it's worth going on. But I only feel like that sometimes.
I've been sort of waiting for my life to begin. There's so much stuff I haven't done that I've wanted to do because I don't feel good enough as I am right now. It's very hard. Up til now I've identified as bisexual, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not a lesbian. I need more experience to know for sure, but I keep telling myself that I'm not fit for more experience until I eliminate my PCOS symptoms. It's hard. I get sick of feeling gross all the time and just sleep a lot to get away from myself. I feel bad that my first post here is so negative. But I'd also kind of being lying if I made it all up and positive because that's not how I feel at all right now.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind having people to talk to.

Hi welcome to the board. Its a great place for support It's nice to have you here. My name is Mel.
In your post you wrote: "I keep telling myself that I'm not fit for more experience until I eliminate my PCOS symptoms" I just wanted to say that you should not place those sort of expectations on yourself. If I waited till I eliminated my PCOS I would have missed out on some wonderful experiences with wonderful people. I am also in the same sort of position as you are in. I have been with men but recently have had experiences with women and now I am confused as to where I am in the sexuality scene and who I want to be with. It is a tough decision.
I hope you feel better soon, we are here if you need to chat, I think you will find alot of understanding and helpful people here.
Mel

Bluedragonfly and Kristin, thanks for your responses. I'm in a bit more positive frame of mind today. It's great to see that you're in Jersey, too, Kristin.
There's been so much information to absorb. I've elected to try to see about reversing my symptoms through diet first before going on any medication because I did Atkins last August, and my period returned. It overstayed its welcome by lasting about two and a half weeks, though...
Anyway, the last several days I've been absorbing as much info about this and about a possible change in career as I can and I'm quite overwhelmed. I decided to step back a bit from my research. Maybe that time would be better spent on the boards trying to make new friends?

Psychopomp - I have had the same thing happen when I follow the south beach diet. It can work wonders at fixing your cycles. I just find it really hard to stick with it. I guess slowly and surely I will be able to make the lifestyle change. I eat way less sugar than I use to but I need to work on my carbs and fast food.
What sort of career change are you looking into?
I work with kids with disabilities in a classroom. I really enjoy my job.
Talk to you soon,
Mel

Hi Psychopomp! Wlecome to the board. Glad you found your way here.

you definitely sound brave to me, taking on multiple challenges at a time!
Everytime my body tells me in numerous ways how crappy i feel (by showing all those lovely symptoms) I feel like crawling into a hole. sounds like it inspired you to take on the world!!! I am proud of you for the research and trying to find ways to ease the PCOS. You never know, the career change on top of it, might bring wonders.

I hope you find what you are looking for in symptom improvements, career, and all that will come after you find that :-).

Oh and I totally agree with kristin, here is the place to rant, because here is wher you find many feeling the same way and understanding exatly where you are coming from!

Cathc you around.
