Default Just waxed my face and neck for almost first time!

My husband helped me wax my face and part of my neck last night. I used Sally Hansens waxing kit. It was pretty easy and fun. It hurt a little, but it was fun to see all the hair on the sticky things. He ripped them off for me! Now I dont have to worry for a month at least.

Can someone give me some good links for facial waxing kits that are cheaper than 4.99 for 34 strips?

Or tell me whats the best kind!

Hi. I have never had the guts to do it at home. You are brave. I don't want to burst your bubble, but waxing lasts less than a week for me. I still love it though

I always find that I break out a lot when I wax anything but my eyebrows, so I always just shave

Unfortunatley my face (usually not many pimples) has broken out from the wax!! Does the rash go away? My face is usually pretty clear.

I hope this lasts longer than a week! When I pluck, it takes a little while to grow back completley. I really cant be doing this waxing thing once a week because of the rashes, so what do I do now? I am very sensitive to stuff on my face!

For a few women waxing is effective and where the growth is not hormonally-stimulated can even diminish growth. However, for most people waxing is very traumatic to the skin and for many people gets less effective as time goes on and the growth gets stronger.

The least irritant method of hair removal as far as the skin is concerned is using a men's type electric razor of which the Norelco men's models are the least irritant. They're currently being rebranded as Philips (actually the same company that has always made them, and is now changing its branding in the US to conform to the branding it has always used in the rest of the world). The problem, of course, is to adjust to the idea of shaving one's face, which at first seems such a "male" thing to do, but if one can get over that barrier, I reckon it's a great answer to the problem.

When you wax, doesn't it eventually grow back thicker and more coarse? I've been told to shave over waxing and then visa versa. : (

What is truly the best way to get rid of facial hair (upper lip, chin, neck) with the least amount of pain and trouble later?

Thanks for any help.

I wax. Haven't seen any hair growing back thicker/darker. I use Surgi-wax Brazilian, and have not had any rashes, although I can't seem to do my belly w/o it breaking out.

If it's not hormonally-stimulated and/or you've got your hormones thoroughly and reliably under control and well inside the normal female range, there are several options.

The difficulty is that facial hair growth usually is hormonally stimulated and with PCOS it's very difficult to keep hormones within the normal female range (or the drugs which will do it have side effects that many of us find worse than the problem they're addressing). If that's the case, then the method which gives least pain and trouble now and none later is shaving with a men's-type electric razor.

Do you mind me asking how fast does the hair grow back?

WOO hoo! It feels great to be hair free, doesn't it! I am so happy your hubby helped you. I have a hilarious story about the first time I waxed, but I'll save it for another day. Anyhoo, I go to the local beauty store and buy the large package of the wax strips, they are like 2 inches by 6 inches long. They are about $8-10 USD per package. When I get home I take a nice pair of scissors and cut just what I need. It's perfect and the package will last you a few years. I use a small spot for my brows, a slender stip for lips and a wider part for my...what shall we call it, my Elvis sideburns? Works like a charm. You pay more for the precut strips and they aren't always the right size. I do tend to break out more on my face when waxing-be sure you apply the after wax moisterizer or if you don't have any, apply baby oil or petroleum jelly to your face for at least an hour after waxing. This gets rid of the extra wax and helps your face. You look like a spaz, but then you can clean your face off.
