Default Kaiser PCOS sisters

Hi!

I'm hoping that all cysters who have Kaiser as insurance can take a moment and send an email to Member Services asking them about the availability of PCOS support groups or PCOS specialists. I'm hoping that if there is enough requests they might scratch their heads and think about putting something together and better educating their doctors.

Often times services aren't available because no one asks... maybe if enough of us ask we might see some results...

finger's crossed that our squeaky wheel gets some oil!

I feel silly posting another message, but wanted to share my good results...

I sent the following email last week to Kaiser Member services and today I got a call from a great doctor who really HEARD what I had to say and seemed to be really up to date on his info...

"I'm looking for an OB/GYN or Primary Care Doc in
the Portland/Vancouver area who specializes in PCOS... and yes, I know
all of your doctor's are thoroughly trained and completely competent,
yada yada yada, but if there is someone in the area who is known for
excellence with this syndrome I would like the opportunity to meet with
her to get the best care possible and be able to make informed
decisions instead of informing the dr. I don't expect every doctor to
be up to date on every disorder, but if there is someone in the area
who is on top of the PCOS I feel I deserve a chance to meet with them."

I'm hoping that my request for better Dr. education and a support group is heard too :)

Hi!
I'm moving to that area and I need to find a good Dr. Just wondering what was the name of the DR that called you? Thanks!

His name is Dr. Sobeck :D I'm not sure which of the Kaiser campuses he works at :( So far we have only spoken by phone the one time... he said he was going to have his office call me to set up and appointment, but I haven't heard back from him... not really an issue at the moment though because I'm doing everything we talked about... sort of got an appointment and an ear without actually going in :) If curious, his recommendations are weight loss (He said Atkins is best to see results, and to do the old Atkins), exercise is essential he said, and metformin. He prefers to only treat with metformin to get the body to regulate itself... I felt like I needed a guide for my body for a few months so it could "relearn" what to do, so I chose to stay with BCP & Spiro for a few months, then I will stop and just go with Met and supplements :)
