We are still in PGN. (going on 6 weeks now)

Thanks for asking. It is so nice to have a support group.

I did not talk to my case worker this week, but as of last Friday we were still stuck in family court. She said we were in the abyss of family court. Uggh! Our dossier was submitted Jan. 31, not sure when we entered family court.

Sorry to hear you are still in PGN. I was hoping for you that you could have him home by end of March. Were you kicked out or is it just taking a while? I have been having computer problems so I have not checked the Guatemala board lately to see what's up down there.

By the way, when did you have DNA done - do you know? I am worried that DNA has not been scheduled yet, but my caseworker says that some of the cases lately have been doing DNA last in the family ct process instead of in the middle of family court.

I just keep believing that this will really happen. I have not bought anything or prepared a room yet but I am still trying to keep my hopes up.

Hi KGJacob,
I was so hoping to hear that you were out of FC. According to our agency, we have not been kicked out of PGN for anything, so I'm just wondering why we are still in. I've heard from a couple of ladies that used the same attorney and agency as me that the attorney didn't tell them they were out of PGN until after she had the final Birthmother signoff (which was 2 or 3 weeks after exiting PGN). So, I'm thinking maybe we are already out of PGN, and just waiting for the Birthmom to signoff. (wishful thinking I guess )

If your dossier went down end of Jan., I would expect that you entered FC no later than the end of Feb. Most people I have heard from say it takes 2-4 weeks to get from submitting the dossier to FC. FC took us 9 1/2 weeks. (of course we got stuck in the Christmas holiday slowdown)

We had DNA done at the same time as the Birthmom interviews for FC. I've been told that the reason they do it that way, is so the Birthmom has to only come in (or be off work) once instead of twice. I'm glad they try to keep the Birthmom from having to take off work too much. Just for a timeline, here's ours on the DNA.

DNA paid for 1/19/03
DNA taken 1/27/03
results received 2/5/03 (by fax)

Then about a week or so later, I got them in the mail. I don't know if you know this or not, but there will be a picture of you baby with his Birthmom. It was a great thing to have for Zach, but I'm glad someone told me it would be in there, so it was not a shock.
