Default Kidney Infection?

Does anyone have experience of it....

TMI ALERT!

I had a niggling pain for a few days in my groin area and part of me finally thought AF was on it's way.... 4 days later still got the pain, but now its travelled up my right side just above my hip (so to speak)

I did a quick search (the internet is so good) and the signs point to a kidney infection.... as I also have had the urge to pee for a couple of days like the feeling you have drunk to much water but when you go it's less than you imagine!

I hate wasting my doctors time and there ain't much I can do on a Friday evening, but I was just wondering if anyone had experience of a Kidney Infection....

I had kidney infections when I was pregnant with No 4 son. I was hospitalised twice and the second time actually passed out in the lift onto a very slim and tiny nurse (I was 8 months pregnant at the time too - must have nearly squashed the poor woman!)

First symptom I had was feeling really, really ill - pretty well the sickest I ever felt in my life - then started puking up all this green stuff. And had a high temperature. When I went to hospital to be checked out, they put a drip in immediately and kept me there several days. It can get very bad very quickly.

I can't remember much pain, just the throwing up. The second time I felt it coming on and went into hospital again and that was the time I fainted.

If in doubt, get an emergency appointment with your doctor - but you won't be in much doubt if it's severe as you will feel really, really ill, won't be able to eat and will get a high temp. Once they stabilised me they told me to drink my 2 litres water a day (at that time I didn't) and loads of cranberry juice - which is repellent. But I was so scared of being that ill again, I'd have agreed to anything.

I don't know if my symptoms were typical but all I remember is feeling down, exhausted, violently ill and burning up then passing out! Burning sensation when peeing could be a urinary tract infection, even something like thrush or cystitis - either way you need to see a doctor. If you have a kidney infection you'd probably be feeling really at death's door by now if it had gone on a few days, so you may be describing cystitis but either way I'd get checked out fast - just in case!

It could just be something triggered by the change in diet. Make sure you're getting your 2 litres a day!

Aw Mazarin, you poor thing! Nothing feels worse than a kidney infection!

If you keep up with drinking lots of water and maybe forcing down some cranberry juice every day, it should help prevent it coming back.

I'm glad your doc sorted you out so fast!
