I have noticed the last couple of nights that I have had to get up in the middle of the nite to go to the bathroom and that when I do , (TMI) the urine is very cloudy and I have been having increased kidney pain . I take my Glucophage 500mg with my evening supper also.
is this normal ? have a call into dr but haven't heard back yet.
Thanks for all advice

It could be a simple UTI, but I'm glad you called your Dr to be safe. Kidney pain is NOT normal on met, so definetly get this checked out. Let us know how it pans out for you.

Just heard from dr he seems to think it possible I might have the beginnings of a UTI of Kidney infection and wants me to drink more water which is one of my things I have a hard time doing . I am a soda junky , I try and I try but I just haven't gotten past that yet. He told me to drink mucho mucho water especially with supper (even though I will be getting up to pee alot at nite) and if the pain is not gone in a few days call and get an appt .
Thanks for the advice Christy

If you can also get a hold of cranberry juice, it helps with UTI's. Cranberry juice prevents bacteria from sticking to the lining of the urinary tract and bladder, where they multiply and cause infection. Although try to limit the amount your drink, it can be as nasty as soda in the sugar dept and make your insulin soar.
Feel better soon!

I cannot find my source again on this, so I could be wrong. Therefore if anyone wants to contradict me, please do so.
I believe that I saw somewhere once that taking met/gluc can dehydrate you some. Not in a dangerous way, but meaning that you should attempt to drink more fluids while on it.
Now if you are a self-professed soda junkie (which I understand) caffiene and the carbonation can dehydrate you as well. Same with coffee or tea.
I was once told that if you are dehydrated that sometimes your kidneys will hurt.
I don't know how long that you have been taking met, but I would think that there is a potential for enough dehydration between the met and the soda that your kidneys could be hurting because of that. Therefore, if at all possible you might want to try to drink more water.
If you can't handle the water try crystal light lemonade, or something with no caffiene, carbonation, or sugar. Sometimes if water sounds bad to me I'll mix 1/4 of a glass of crystal light lemonade with 3/4 glass of water and drink that. It adds enough flavor to the water, but I am still getting a lot of good fluids.
