There is another disease that is genetic called polycystic kidney disease, but it's not related to PCOS. My RE wants my DH to get screened b/c my FIL had kidney failure. Do you have a family history of kidney issues? One of the easiest ways to screen for it is to do an ultrasound of the kidneys to look for cysts. Maybe she found unusual results for your blood work? You should ask her why you need the u/s. And, you should make an appt with an RE anyway, which you can cancel later -- sometimes it takes a couple weeks to get an appt.
