Default Kind of gross but it's starting to scare me....

Ok, this is a little gross and tmi but I just wanted to know if this is related to Met or not. I started Met in March and a few months later, every few weeks, I get a bowel obstruction on my right side that lasts for about 3-4 days. It's always in that same spot and it's always when I overindulge for a couple days straight (going out to eat alot, eating too much junk). Just wondering if any of you have had this problem while on Metformin?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean - a true bowel obstruction (not constipation) is very serious to the point of being life threatening and requires medical treatment.

But if you mean you get constipated, then that happens to me as well if I don't have enough fibre and water. How do you know it is on your right side, is it sore or swollen? If so, I would check with your Doc to be sure.

Um, no I'm not actually constipated.....it just gets extremely swollen and sore on that side, like you said. In fact, sometimes so bad it hurts to even walk....I was hoping maybe it was just the Metformin but it sounds like maybe not

Constipation can happen on met, but it sounds to me like it's dietary from your remarks. I think if you solve the dietary issues, you'll probably get relief.

If it continues, I would go see your Dr though to rule out something more serious. Good luck!

Hallo,
I just strated taking met again about 2 months ago. Before that I was constipated. I had a bm maybe once a week. But every since I started met. i go daily or at least every other day. And I don't know if it's met or I have been eating more fruit and such (trying to avoid junk food and sweets)
Has anyone had the same experience or am I just emagining this?
