Default Kinda OT: i've had a headache for 2 days now...ideas on treatment?

I have had a headache for 2 days now. I was able to sleep last night and the night before but then i wake up early and can't fall back to sleep because it hurts so bad. I've tried meds and a cool cloth. Nothing helps so I just 'deal'
It's really bad though, I haven't wanted to eat and when I do i feel sick.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried any OTC drugs?

Make sure you are hydrated. When I feel one coming on I pound a couple of glasses and normally stave it off.

lady, i feel your pain. i get headaches like that, too...either from stress or right after my period (or both!). i agree, drink lots of water, daily, to help prevent them. i used to get even worse headaches when i drank caffeine, so if tha'ts an issue, you might want to cut that out of your life! my headaches reduced drastically once i stopped drinking anything with caffeine in it.

once you've got the bugger, try doing some gentle yoga to stretch out the muscles in your back, shoulders and neck. yoga journal online has a great resource for poses by problem/area. yoga also helps to prevent headaches, too.

another thing that helps is peppermint oil. a drop or two on your neck, shoulders or temples, where ever it hurts, will help alleviate the pain a bit and should help with the nausea. don't go too crazy, though, cuz peppermint is strong stuff! there's a product called a "migrastick" that has a little roller ball and peppermint oil.

if they're migraines, you might want to talk to your doctor. also look into food allergies, too, since they can cause migraines. it's been a few days since you posted this, so hopefully you're feeling better by now.

I've had this problem lately... severe headaches and tiredness.. I thought it was from lack of sleep or maca but it's still not going away

Thanks for all the responses. I will have to remember them for next time. It started Friday night and didn't go away til Sunday night. figures. Some weekend I had.

I find drinking soda in general during it hurts so I usually stick to water.
i will have to pick up some peppermint oil. I saw something like that for headaches at Bath and Body works but I didn't think it really worked. i will have to pick some up.

Also i will definitely check out that yoga page too. I can't do any extreme yoga positions but I do like some of the easier ones (thank WiiFit lol).

I do have allergies so I was making sure to take my allergy meds and sudafed. I also was taking aleve and tylenol. I have been taking aleve daily per prescription for a swollen wrist i've had for a few months so basically I don't think that was helping at all, so that's why i added the tylenol.

I am not sure what made it better. Probably just time I guess. It was right after my period though, so maybe that explains it too. Hrmm...
