Kyra Sedgwick's Character has PCOS

Caught a new episode of The Closer the other night, and at the end of the show, Brenda's doctor told her she had PCOS and that was why she was having early menopause symptoms. First the doctor suggested she cut out all sugar and carbs, and Brenda said "Can't do it!" Then the doctor mentioned ovarian drilling. That's a big jump isn't it? Seems like there was some mention by the doc that Brenda might have difficulty conceiving if she didn't treat the PCOS. Did anybody else see this? Huge The Closer fan here and I was baffled by them even mentioning the most aggressive treatment, ovarian drilling to her...and she's apparently going for it to end her peri-menopausal symptoms.

The look on her face when the doc mentioned she needed to cut out all sweets (no other carbs were mentioned) was priceless. Brenda has a sweet tooth and it's part of her charm. I hope they show her cutting back, but they can't take them totally away.

I guess for TV, the drilling has more drama value to it.

I'm in two minds about it -- one the one hand, it helps get the name of the condition out there.

On the other -- educate, please. It has enough drama on its own!

I know Veganmom I know. I did respond to a couple of posts on the TNT Closer board, but when I went back a few minutes ago, it wasn't there.

Their bulletin board system sucks.
