Default The L Word

I was just wondering what kinds of reactions everyone had to this show, if you tuned in....

Personally, I loved the first episode and can't wait for next Sunday! The characters seem real, and none of the actresses seem like straight girls "play-acting" like lesbians the way Melanie and Lindsey do (on QAF).

Also, does anyone else think Jenny is a Victoria's Secret model? I swear she looks so familiar sometimes, and I am pretty sure I've seen her in the catalog.

Anyone else see the show? Love it? Hate it? Let me know!!

I'm too cheap to pay $50/month for Cable with Showtime, but a friend of mine made a copy of the pilot. I haven't finished watching it yet, but from what I've seen, I'd say it's OK. I heard the first episode was pretty bad, but that the show gets better after that. They had to cram everything into the first episode and it felt a little too self conscious. The rest of the season is supposed to fall into a flow though. Despite this short coming, I am really glad that there is some representation on TV, albeit nothing like MY life. I called my other gay friends and they agreed with this assessment. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD (LOL).

Kristin,

Did you know that there is as Showtime rebate offer in the February issue of Girlfriends? It's an ad for The L Word, and there is a coupon thing for...I think it's $5 or something back if you send in your receipt for new Showtime hookup.

Just thought I'd let you know so you could save some bucks.

Thanks for the coupon tip. Too bad I don't subscribe to Girlfirends. And the main problem with ordering Showtime is that I don't even have cable, so I would have to order that too! LOL.
Besides, we have cable tv at work and I just sit and watch it all day. I know that if I got it at home, I would do the same. Not having it forces me to go out and do something. I think I will just wait to see if it comes out on DVD. But thanks again.

Yeah this show rocks!!! Lots of hotties in it. I like the storylines MUCH better than those 2 pathetic lesbians on Queer as Folk. Won't be watching that crap anymore. That Jenny girl in L word pisses me off, I hate how she talks like a freaking mouse and is acting like a freak.

I finally broke down and subscribed to cable and Showtime.
I'm now a total addict and find myself talking about the show all the time. My gf is getting pretty sick of hearing about it though!
I have to say though that the last episode was my least favorite. I hope some of them get funny again, like episode 2.

I agree with you about Jenny. I think she is annoying, but beautiful. Her hair is ridiculously thick and long and overpowering. If she would cut it (which I hope they will do when she finally comes out) she would be so much cuter.

I have a friend (maybe ex-friend?) who is almost exactly like Shane, so I can totally relate to that whole scene.

I think Tina got pregnant way too easily, but that's probably just my bitterness over infertility talking.

I don't like Dana so much, but I love her girlfriend. She is adorable.

I love Pam Grier. Period.

I feel bad for poor Tim. I hope he hooks up with that swim student.

Oh, and what is up with Lisa, the "lesbian-identified male"? Is he a tranny or what? If anyone can explain that, please do. Maybe I am not "with it", as I live in rural Illinois, but I have never heard that term before.

Bette gets on my nerves, as does Alice. But I still love them.

Can't stop talking about the show. I love it!
