I assume that is a fasting insulin level?
I think you are using different units of measurement than the tests I had done - perhaps if you include the units it would be more helpful when it comes to comparing.
Shorty, some people get put on Metformin without having an insulin problem, since it still helps improve egg quality, and I've heard it can also cause non-IR PCOS-ers to ovulate regularly. Also, "normal" insulin levels vary a lot from person to person - it depends on weight, age, even ethnicity.
Have you had an oral glucose tolerance test? This is a better indicator of insulin resistance. For example, I have normal fasting levels of insulin, but abnormal 1 hour and 2 hour levels after taking the glucose drink.
An endocrinologist will definitely help you. It is likely they will ask you to do an oral glucose tolerance test if you haven't already done one. If not, ask them if you can do one.
