Hi Guys

I just got some results back today and wanted your opinion. They have some different way of measuring some things in the USA and I needed a local view.

My insulin (not fasting) came in at 16

My FAI was 7

My GP said the insulin was fine. She also said the FAI was in the upper range of normal (7 was the upper limit). She said my SHBG was normal also. All my other tests (prog, oestro, etc etc) all came in the normal range.

I have read that 5 is the upper limit for FAI. Any advice? I am just interested to know. I am going in to start laser or IPL treatment soon for my facial hair and don't want to go on any meds unless it was really bad. I am hoping this is all good news!

Hi! I'm not sure what FAI stands for so I can't help you there.

Your non-fasting sugar level seems quite high to me...but I am so not an expert on these things. I know there are others here that will be able to give more sound advice on these things....I really just wanted to say good luck with starting to treat your PCOS. Hope the laser therapy goes well.

Ditto to what Amy said. I'm not sure what FAI stands for either - sorry. And the insulin sound quite high to me too. Sorry we are not of any help. Good luck with the laser. Let us know how it goes, I'd be interested to know the results.

FAI is free androgen index. They take the free androgens in the blood and divide it by the sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG).

My GP said everything was normal so I guess Ill just have to take her word for it

Actually I might post these somewhere else and see how I go
