I've been on here for a while, but haven't had the blood work done, etc., until just recently. Here's what I have, if a blood test result isn't there it means I don't have it (although I don't know why I would be tested for FSH and not LH too). My Western Doctor is leery of diagnosing me with PCOS, but she said I definitely have some signs (no periods, acne, 'apple' shaped figure) of it.
U/S and Lab Results:
Ultrasound came back that I have "slightly polycystic" ovaries. I don't know what the difference is between "slightly polycystic" and "polycystic" is; I saw the same "string of pearls" on both ovaries. My ovaries aren't enlarged, and the cysts looked fairly even and similar-sized (I don't think that matters, though).
Lab Results:
I don't have the testosterone lab results back yet, but this is what I do have. My doctor said that they all look normal.
My doctor wants me to go on metformin, but is willing to wait for me to continue with acupuncture to see if that works for me first.
I'm feeling really bummed about this right now; I'm not sure it would have made a difference if the lab results came back with "classic" PCOS levels. I just started with my acupuncture the week I had the blood tests done, so I don't think they would make a drastic change in such a short time. I just feel so. . . .broken. It's hard for me to focus on work today.

Just remember that all women are different and different levels affect each one of us differently. It's about finding what works for you! GOOD LUCK!!!!
I kinda know what you mean. Most of my lab levels were normal (I was sure my testosterone level was sky high...but it wasn't). I did test IR though. However...keep in mind that many women with PCOS test completely normal. The best way to diagnose is through symptoms. It sounds like you have PCOS to me. I highly suggest trying the metformin. Even women who test normal, still respond positively from met. Good luck.

Dx-2004 while ttc #2
Currently: 2000mg metformin
Not officially ttc, but not preventing!
Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I also felt validated when my labs were not normal, but many women on here do have normal to near normal results and are still diagnosed. Good luck with taking the metformin, and don't be afraid to look up info here and other sources, and if you're not satisfied with your treatment, you may want to talk to your dr about it, or see an endo. Good luck to you!
Thanks! I'm trying acupuncture and chinese herbs right now to see if I get results with that, but if it doesn't work I think I'll go on met.
My testosterone came back "slighly elevated" (I posted it somewhere here, but I think it was in the 40s), although Kat says that a "normal" woman will never have her testosterone higher than 20. My doctor then said that women with "slightly elevated" testosterone do well on a certain BCP (she wouldn't say which, but I would guess Yasmin), which I'm not ready to try yet (because of the acupuncture).
So that's where I'm at. I'm going to try the acupuncture for a few months, and then if it's not working or I'm not making progress I'm going to try the Met and see if that helps. I don't think BCPs are going to help me at all; I've been on them before and they've only made me worse.
Thank you for your support and kind words. They really help a lot! Sometimes I get really upset because I'm with this great guy and I'd like to have kids with him someday but I also feel like my body is NEVER going to do that for me and it really makes me sad. I'm definitely not ready for kids and I realize there have been some major advances in fertility treatments but it's like, if I want to conceive naturally I'll never have that option open to me. It's really distressing.
